You will probably never again be photographed as much as you will be on your wedding and in order for everything to run to plan you should start preparing in advance to ensure you look perfect on your big day. Makeup application requires a lot of consideration you need to think carefully about your overall look, given that you will be possibly wearing an elaborate head dress, neckline and jewellery. Your makeup needs to compliment your wedding attire rather than compete with it. The following tips and techniques will help you to perfect your look for your big day:
- If you are fair be careful when applying black eyeliner as anything to dark will work to minimize the eye, creating a harsh effect against your skin that will be emphasized in your photos. The best eye makeup tips are to use soft browns or greys instead, another technique is to apply a white eyeliner just inside the rim of the eye to give your eyes sparkle and pop
- Try to ensure that as much as your makeup is as waterproof as possible. Not only will this it have great staying power, but the emotions of the big day are sure to bring a tear or two to your eyes and this way you can guarantee you will be smudge free
- If you plan to go for that golden glow on your big day with a fake tan, make sure you have a trial spray well in advance so that you are happy with the color. There is nothing worse than a look that is to orange, and remember that it will need to cover all your skin evenly so that no visible lines will show on your photo
- The best mineral makeup look is going to be stay as neutral as possible, especially when photos are being taken outside. Keep in mind however that very natural shades will look great in the morning but are going to fade throughout the day, making them look pallid in photographs. Keep a lipstick and blush handy so you can touch up through out the day and give yourself a mini makeover just before your photo shoot.
- It’s important that you be sure to never over emphasize more than one feature, create an emphasis with the eyes or lips never both otherwise this will only draw attention to your makeup
- When thinking about lip color a traditional warm pink or soft coral will help to accentuate the freshness of a white or ivory dress
- If you are having a professional makeover try to see if the makeup artist can come to you, as you will be under time constraints and this way you can ensure won’t get held up and your make over will run to plan
If you are having a professional makeover have a final hair and makeup practise with your bridal party in advance of the big day, make sure you are happy with the finished result and ask them to record the colours used, so that everything will run to plan on your big day.
